Santa’s little helpers deliver gifts to Transition House

How do you pass on a warm hug and thank you?

Tera and Wendy (in hats) with Helen Morrison of Transition House

If Helen Morrison of the Sydney Transition House and other staff there could extend their arms and thanks, we’re sure they would do so to the 60 men, women and children who ran or walked for children of the shelter at Sunday’s Ugly Sweater Santa Shuffle.

Instead of paying a traditional race registration fee, members of the Cape Breton Road Runners, Cape Breton Barbarians and Framework Racing were asked to bring a toy suitable for a child aged from newborn to teen instead.

Organizers Wendy Martin of CBC Radio and Tera Camus of Framework’s received a warm embrace and multiple thanks at the shelter after delivering the dozens and dozens of toys there Monday.

They say charity begins at home and local area runners dug deep this weekend to provide hundreds of top quality gifts for children who need a little extra support this time of year.

Special Salute to Triathlon and Bike Racing

Framework Racers take on the competition during the Cape Breton Classic, the only official race sanctioned by Bicycle Nova Scotia on the island. This shot was taken in recent years on Boularderie Island.

For one day only, Framework Cycle & Fitness will offer 20% savings off all bike parts, bike accessories, sports clothing and nutritional supplies in honor of Cape Breton athletes who love to race their bike.

Whether they are licensed under  Bicycle Nova Scotia  or compete at triathlons here in Cape Breton, the province, the nation or internationally at Ironman races, local athletes repeatedly make Cape Breton and us so proud, especially members of our Framework Racing team and/or Cape Breton Barbarians Triathlon Club.

In honor of those athletes, Framework is extending this special savings to all customers on Friday.

In tandem with this sale, two of the island’s experts at the sport of racing are Barbarian Club leaders Drs. Chris Milburn and Julie Curwin who will be here upon closing at 5 pm Friday to share their tips and advice for athletes who love to swim, bike and run.

Julie Curwin, Vince Nicholson (another fabulous Ironman from CB) and Chris Milburn talk about equipment during last year’s Introduction to Triathlon at Framework Cycle & Fitness.

Their Introduction to Triathlon has been a popular event at the shop for the past several years and attracts experienced and newbies who get the chance to share funny stories and possible fears associated with racing and how to overcome. They will discuss everything from training to nutritional need to equipment. Bike racing and triathlon is for all ages and all skill levels and provides lasting  memories and friendships.

We’re especially proud of Miss Julie who returned from St. Croix with another win under her belt that earned her a spot in this year’s 2013 running of the World’s Ironman Competition in Kona Hawaii.

So if you’re in the area Friday, stop in for the sale and free introduction to triathlon.

Welcome to our new site!

We’re still adding things, so check back often to see what is new!

FrameWork Cycle & Fitness has been selling bikes and fitness equipment since 1996. These years in business have given us unmatched service experience. Service is our top priority. Customers keep coming back to us because they know they will get a great deal and it will be backed with a huge inventory of parts, accessories and clothing to keep their equipment running at peak performance and maximum enjoyment, with little or no down time. Over the years we have built our inventory to over 4,000 different items. Bike purchases at FrameWork Cycle & Fitness earn you 15% off most bike parts, accessories and clothing for one year. This allows you to take your time to purchase everything you need to make your ride safe, comfortable and fun.

Our fitness equipment department offers the best equipment available at a range of prices that will suit most budgets. We have treadmills, elliptical trainers, exercise bikes, weights and strength equipment, as well as smaller items and accessories. We sell equipment suitable for home use, institutional grade and full commercial equipment with the best warranties in the industry. With our experience we can help you find the proper equipment to fill your needs. As in any industry, warranty service may be needed to repair defects in manufacturing. We service everything we sell, using our own service technicians who work closely with the manufacturers to get your equipment back to work as quickly as possible. When you buy from us, you never need to contact a call center, or hang onto a toll free line for an hour to get the service you deserve. All fitness equipment we sell includes at least one year, in home service at no charge anywhere within the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

After countless requests, we followed our clients desire to stay active in winter, and in 2008 we added a full line of Cross Country Ski equipment, Snowshoes, Nordic Walking and Hiking Poles. In 2009, we listened to our customers again and successfully expanded our bike line to include the extremely popular Specialized line of bicycles. We now carry a full line of bikes from the smallest 12 inch children’s bikes to the most advanced road and mountain bikes, along with everything in between. Our core brands are Devinci, Norco, Giant and Specialized.

FrameWork Cycle & Fitness is a community minded company. We donate two $500 bikes per year, thousands of dollars worth of gift cards, dozens of helmets, pumps and other accessories to help several charities and organizations with fund-raising efforts in our area. In 2009, we are adding to our community involvement by sponsoring a bike race in our area. This will bring racers from all across the province to test their legs and hearts against the hilly terrain of Cape Breton. We are planning to make this an annual event, using a different venue each year to show off our island. Along with the race, we have teamed up with Dignity Memorial to sponsor our own local race team to compete in our race, as well as other races across the province.
